We decided to have a bit of fun and challenge ourselves to give you the A-Z rundown on The Ferns!
A – Armoy
The Ferns is located in the small village of Armoy just 7 miles from Ballycastle and a 7-minute drive from the tourist attraction of The Dark Hedges.
The Ferns is under a 10-minute walk (on pavements) to the village centre where there is a convenience store with post office facilities, a chemist, takeaway, hairdressers, petrol station, a few pubs, a café and a restaurant. There are further farm shops, cafes, takeaways and restaurants within a 5-minute drive.
There are also 2 children’s play parks and a peaceful riverside walk along the Bush River.
B – Ballintoy Harbour Dining Room
Our spacious modern dining room is based on the theme of Ballintoy Harbour. It looks out onto the rear garden and has fabulous country views. It comfortably seats 6 people and there is plenty of space for relaxed dining. There is a small tourist information corner with plenty of leaflets and maps – ideal for planning all your activities!
Ballintoy Harbour is 18mins drive from The Ferns. It has featured as Lordsport Harbour in The Game of Thrones.

C – Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge Room
The Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge is a bright and airy room with 2 single beds. There is plenty of wardrobe, drawer space and it has a hairdryer for your convenience.
Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge is 20 mins drive from The Ferns. Try crossing the rope bridge suspended at nearly 100ft above seawater which connects Carrick-a-Rede Island to the mainland. Many people come afar to cross the bridge to the small fisherman’s island.

D – Dunluce Castle Bedroom
The Dunluce Castle themed bedroom is the main bedroom in The Ferns. It has a double bed and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, a 24” smart TV and a hairdryer. It also has the added extra of a modern en-suite.
Be the King and Queen of the castle relaxing in the Dunluce Room!
Dunluce Castle is 23 drive from The Ferns and is one of the most picturesque and romantic Irish Castles with evidence of settlement from the first millennium.

E – Egg Cups: Jamie Oliver
The fully kitted-out kitchen has everything you can think of to create that perfect meal right down to these cute little Jamie Oliver egg cups.
F – Forest – Glenariff Forest Living Room
The Glenariff Forest living room has two large comfortable sofas for you to sit and relax on while watching films on Netflix on the 40” smart TV.
Sitting by an open fire is the perfect way to spend a cosy winter’s night.
Glenariff Forest is 30 mins drive from The Ferns. The forest park is over 1000 hectares with woodlands, lakes and waterfalls. It is great for walks, riding and tours. A wooden boardwalk follows the river as it winds through the majestic rocks. A must-see!!

G – Giant’s Causeway Sunroom
The Giant’s Causeway sunroom gives you the ideal opportunity to relax and take in the superb views of the open countryside.
The Giant’s Causeway is Northern Ireland’s first UNESCO Heritage Site. It is a geological phenomenon of 40,000 basalt columns. Situated by the Atlantic Ocean and bordered by breathtaking cliffs. Learn about the history and legend while visiting the award-winning Visitor Centre.

H – Hedges (The Dark Hedges Bedroom)
Of course, The Dark Hedges must be included in the A-Z!
The Dark Hedges bedroom has a comfy double bed and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. It also has the added bonus of a 24″ smart TV and a hairdryer.
The Dark Hedges is 7 mins drive from The Ferns and is featured in The Game of Thrones when Arya and Gendry flee.

I – Ice
OK, we were struggling a bit with this one.
The fully kitted-out kitchen has a large fridge freezer. Perfect for storing the ice for your drinks while you are relaxing in the garden. There is also plenty of space to store all your chilled or frozen food for your self-catering holiday staycation.
J – Juicer
Just one of the many added extras in the fully kitted-out kitchen.
Enjoy some freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast while staying at The Ferns!
K – Kitchen
The fully kitted-out kitchen has the Titanic theme. It includes a microwave, full oven, coffee maker, dishwasher and plenty of crockery so you’ll not go short while the dishwasher is on!
It is very spacious, ideal for cooking up tasty meals!
L- Lamps
There are lots of lovely lamps at The Ferns to brighten up every room!
M – Maker (Sandwich Maker)
One of the little extras in our fully kitted-out kitchen makes your holiday stay a little more like home!
What’s your favourite toastie filling…
N – Netflix
The Ferns has a large 40” smart TV with Netflix in the living room and a 24” smart TV in two bedrooms.
Sit back, relax and enjoy watching Netflix!
O – Outside
The Ferns has a great enclosed back garden with a fantastic dining area and BBQ and beautiful views of the rolling open countryside.
There is no better way to spend time with your family and friends than chilling out, relaxing and having a BBQ at The Ferns!
P – Puzzles & Games
There are lots of puzzles and games to keep the kids (both young and old) entertained. There is even colouring in books for the younger ones!
Q – Queen of the Castle
Who wants to be the queen of the castle in our Dunluce-themed bedroom?
R – Road Races
The Armoy Road Races are held every summer in Armoy. It is one of the top road racing events in Northern Ireland which many famous riders attend.
Come and join the fun of the weeklong festivities!

S – Swingball
Lots of fun is to be had playing Swingball in the back garden!
T – Tumble Dryer
Many travellers love the clothes drying facilities at The Ferns. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room. There is also an indoor clothesline and an outdoor one if the weather is favourable.
U – Unique Stained-Glass Window
The beautiful stained-glass window in the round stairwell is one of the unique features of The Ferns.
V – View
V must be view! There is a fantastic view of the rolling countryside at the back of The Ferns. This can be enjoyed either sitting in the outdoor dining area or relaxing in the cosy sunroom.
W – White Park Bay
The bathroom is themed on White Park Bay. Just one of the many stunning beaches along the Causeway Coast.

X – Xmas Tree
The Xmas decorations helps you to get into the Christmas spirit when you spend the festive season at The Ferns.
Y – Yellow packet of Tayto
Guests can enjoy some tasty treats which are supplied in the welcome basket. The items are all locally sourced.

The Ferns is a spacious self-catering property run by husband-and-wife team Will and Lesley-Ann Gray. It is located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the village of Armoy and is only a 5-minute walk to all the local amenities including shops, restaurants, bars, post office and petrol station.
